A total of 200 MOU workers were sent to work at the Vatana Phaisal Engineering Factory in Phetchaburi, Thailand. However, on the evening of October 29, 2024, 126 workers, including Ko Thant Zin Aung, were dismissed just two days before completing one year of service. Seeking assistance, the affected workers filed a formal complaint at the Labour Affair Office in Phetchaburi on October 31, 2024.
Following negotiations at the Labour Affair Office on November 5, 2024, with factory representatives, relevant agencies, and stakeholders, an agreement was reached. Each dismissed worker will receive compensation equivalent to two months’ salary, totaling 18,000 Baht. Additionally, the employer has agreed to pay outstanding wages for 15 days of work, with the payments to be transferred to individual bank accounts on November 8, 2024. Furthermore, the responsible agency has agreed to secure new job opportunities for the dismissed workers without requiring additional placement fees.
Cases of labor rights violations can also be reported through the Ministry of Labour’s official Facebook page.
