At the plenary session of the 113th International Labour Conference on June 5, regarding the effective action taken against the terrorist military junta under Article 33 of the ILO Constitution, Dr. Hidayat Greenfield, Regional Secretary of the International Union of Food, Agricultural, Hotel, Restaurant, Catering, Tobacco and Allied Workers’ Associations (IUF) Asia-Pacific, sent the following message:

“Today, we have achieved a commendable great success, and we are extremely proud of the National Unity Government, particularly the Ministry of Labour of the National Unity Government. This has clearly demonstrated the support of the international community, especially the global trade union movement, in opposing the terrorist military in Myanmar.

Ultimately, with effective and comprehensive action, we will be able to end the military dictatorship, marking a crucial step toward restoring democracy and people’s rights in Myanmar.

We deeply respect and are proud of the efforts and dedicated work of the National Unity Government’s Ministry of Labour (NUG MOL). On behalf of Myanmar’s workers and IUF union members, we express our utmost gratitude and pride for your efforts in reaching this effective stage, and we will continue to provide support and assistance. We firmly believe that soon, in a federal democratic Myanmar, in Yangon, we will meet and celebrate victory together.

The IUF stands in full solidarity with your efforts, will continue to support and assist, and, starting today, demands the unconditional and full recognition of the National Unity Government as the legitimate government of Myanmar.”
